Please excuse my ignorance as I am not at all literate in web design.
We have a website and want to link to a map site http://hint.fm/wind/ and have an "overlay" of this map http://www.emapsworld.com/images/usa-inter...ighways-map.gif so that truck fleet managers can easily see the wind conditions their drivers will be experiencing throughout the US. My guess is that the link is easy enough to establish but can an overlay of the highway map even be done? I would guess that the highway map would need to be semi-transparent showing only the state boundaries, route #'s and paths so that you could view the wind map behind it. Is this even possible and who would be able accomplish this. Thanks and once again I apologize for being stupid. |

You could draw your own transparent map. But the wind map isn't an image. Even if it was it would be very bad form to use it without their permission and especially to use it in your page while it's still on their server. There are ways they could prevent this from happening too. But as said, it isn't an image.

If we got their permission and linked to it, could we position the Interstate map on our page where it "lines up" properly with the wind map running it's thing behind the map image? Thanks |
