Hi
Just a general question. What does the forum think of popups? Thanks. |

Depends on the popup type. If the popup is part of the application then I have no problem with them. If the popup is not part of the application then I hate them.

Application? I don't mind real popups that are triggered by me, e.g. an image gallery that that opens the full size image in it's own window when I click a thumbnail. Don't like popups that spawn from nowhere. I loathe CSS overlays. They aren't really popups but are often called that. Why? Because I can't control them. Take the gallery example with each image in it's own window. I can minimize the windows with images I want to look at a second time and close the rest. I can bookmark them, link to them... With the overlays built on CSS positioning I can do zilch. |
