I’ve just launched Professional on the Web, a portfolio directory for Web Agencies and Freelancers who want to manage a quickly showcase of their projects. The project has been developed in Ruby on Rails.

http://www.professionalontheweb.com/

I’d appreciate some comments on the site in general covering layout, ease of navigation. Anything you have to say constructively is appreciated.

Thanks

Some quick comments on the index page:

The line at top of the page is superimposed on the three green bottons on the rigt.

Same applies to the line at the submit box, it is superimposed on the "sign-up" button.

Colors of much of the text are too light on white background to be easily legible.

Last, but not the least, the objectionable part is what is termed as "fixed-width" design you have used.

Thanks Dr Z for your comment, it's always hard to find the good trade-off between "eye-candy" and accessibility. I agree with you about the "fixed-width" layout, probably it could work well with a liquid one. The project has been developed in 3 weeks. I i'll try to fix a lot of things during this beta thanks to real content.

I have no objcetions on "fixed-width" layout, it't in the center and I certainly won't look at 640x480 resolution. Regarding design, I agree with Dr Z that green buttons and blue links (headlines) could be a bit darker. That green-blue color combinations should be chosed carefuly. Otherwise, nice and clear design. The only thing that's missing is Histerius' site smile.gif
