What's the secret to uploading PNG images? I uploaded an image in a post and I see it shows as 'Attached Image'. How do I upload an image that the user can download? In the past I seem to remember the image would show up as a thumbnail image. Do I remember wrong?

I recall pandy mentioned something about buggy attachment thumbnails recently, but now I can't find it.

Well, I don't remember such a post. But I was gone for several months on a job and when I returned I didn't bother to read all the posts I missed.

I don't think it was public.

What I wrote about was that the nice thumbnails are replaced with a generic one. The actual file is still there and the generic thumbnail can still be clicked to see the full image. Or didn't that work either for you?

Oh dear. That was NOT what you meant.

I'll try with a JPG.

Yes, the JPG did show the thumbnail and I could right click and 'Save Link As'. That part worked. My PNG upload only showed 'Attached Image' and when I right clicked on the ?link? I was not offered the same options as the JPG did. It did have a open in new tab but when I did that the tab opened with a 403 error (forbidden).

Yeah. I never use PNG myself here, so I can't be 100% sure, but I *think* it used to work. Otherwise we should have had complaints about it before.

All these problems with avatars, thumbs and now PNG must be connected somehow. Alas moderators here have hardly any insight, we can just do things from the front end so to speak. Delete, move threads, ban people (that complain too much! tongue.gif) and so on. So we have to wait for an admin to check it out.
