HTMLHelp Forums _ Feedback and Assistance _ Link colors

On this forum both new and visited links have the same color, so you must rely on the "New Posts" icons which Jakob Nielsen would probably disapprove of...

Not anymore. smile.gif

Thanks! Seems unvisited links are now black, while visited links become blue.

Is the contrast to the blue BG enough for visually impaired users (I don't know myself)?

At the http://forums.htmlhelp.com/ section, the links to the moderators (when present) look green, while the links to the founders are brown. unsure.gif

Do you want another color? rolleyes.gif

Yes, the contrast is good enough ( I checked). But I think the all baby-blue background is a little tiresome. Couldn't the posts' background be white, or close to white? Would liven it up a bit if everything wasn't the same color. unsure.gif

Yes, gold color! tongue.gif Maybe my question should be: "why is member status indicated by link color"?

So people can see who are moderators and admins. rolleyes.gif

Gold is good, but I think my name should also be bold. tongue.gif

And who is going to explain the color codes? Also it's not used on other places.

There are mods that I can implement which will do quite a few more things to the board. For example, the group can be colored in the info area below your avatar on every post. Also, the number of posts can link to a search for your posts, and stuff like that.

But every time I add more features / functionality to the site it seems that I get some feedback that there are too many options, etc.

I made the groups colored in the stats at the bottom of the index page because it was easy and built into the mod that shows those. I thought it would provide some visual differentiation. There was no particular reason I picked maroon for admin and green for moderators... and I can change the colors if you guys really want.

John
