I'm just fooling around with creating a countdown timer that I use locally. I have one that dynamically modifies the title and it works fine. I would like to pin the tab but then only the icon shows. It there any way to remove the icon so that the title shifts left and shows in the pinned tab?

What does "pin a tab" mean? Is it something browser-specific?

What does "pin a tab" mean? Is it something browser-specific? It might be specific to Chrome. It shrinks the tab at the top of the page so that it only shows the icon and there is no X to close it. See attachment. (There seems to be an image problem. I do not see it below and icons are broken.) This post has been edited by denmarks: Sep 10 2021, 03:44 PM Attached image(s) |

Aha, now I see that Firefox has it too. Apparently only showing the icon is how they work. Another thing you can do in Firefox is put bookmarked sites in a Bookmarks Toolbar, that way both icon and title will be visible. Do you want the countdown timer to run in the background tab? I don't know if that works, apparently Chrome (and others?) reduce activity in background tabs for performance reasons. Maybe there's some browser extension that runs a timer? QUOTE See attachment. (There seems to be an image problem. I do not see it below and icons are broken.) Alas there seems to be a forum bug when attaching PNG images. JPG or GIF might work. |

I only show the number of days. The page restarts when I start the browser and I have an option to not get the page from the cache. The number of days appear perfectly but I have to keep a large tab to the left. If I pin it only the icon shows. I can still see the number of days by just hovering over the tab.
