Hello,

Why should we use meta name="description" and <meta name="keywords" these days? Isn't it useless? Do search engines use this meta? The developer can easily write the wrong information.

<meta name="description" content="Free Web tutorials">
<meta name="keywords" content="HTML, CSS, JavaScript">

I don't know for sure if they are used at all today. But I see them as relics, especially keywords. Possibly description can turn up in search results if there is no or little text to index on the page, but that's just a guess.

Google says so: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/snippet but "keywords" is not among the supported values: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/c...ng/special-tags
