Ok gang. I'm working on a new theme for my personal blog, which I will later release to the world. So, it really needs to be perfect!

Find it here: http://1mansblog.com

Things I know about already:
  • One of the widgets doesn't validate.
  • I'm using a table in my header for placement, which I'll fix later.
  • I haven't yet validated my CSS.

I'm interested in everything you might observe that could use improvement or fixing with this template. Keep in mind that the items in the two sidebars are all just placeholders. People will put different things in there so just evaluate the sidebars generically.

Feel free to register on the test site, post comments, or whatever else you need to do to check it out.

The right sidebar is a fixed 420px wide, but the main content area is fluid width.
I've tested in FF2, Opera 9.1 and IE6. I would be interested in feedback from any other browsers.

Thanks in advance,

John

It worked in Swift as well (well, actually I had a weird bug were the page doubled up but after I refreshed it was fine)

I fail to see much to complain about. I think I'd add skip links for small screen / voice browsers and that's it.

Down to the right, the MyBloglog widget/add-on...the text next to the man's silhouette is a pale yellow, which is hard to read on your white background.

Apart from that - pretty clean theme. I hope it's not a pain to mess with like a lot of them are.

I'd add some picture at the top to make it more jolly, and maybe some redesign to buttons. I don't know how difficult is to alter the theme so those are just my thoughts...

Thanks for the input guys.

I was actually expecting people to find more issues. Now I'm a little nervous that no one has. smile.gif

This theme should be extremely simple for people to customize. I have taken great pains to make it "human readable" and logical. Of course we'll have to see what other people think after I make the source publicly available.
