I'm having trouble with a form that has elements on several layers that I show/hide.

It works fine on my mac using Safari, but the Firefox and Camino browsers show the scrollbar of a text area form element even though the layer it's on is hidden. (I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.9 (7W98) and the latest versions of Firefox and Camino when I experience the problem.)

Here's a simple example: http://ezinvoice.com/test/layertest.html

Can someone please try this on other platforms and browsers (especially Windows and Mac OS X 10.4 with Firefox ) and let me know if this problem exists there as well?

If anyone knows about a workaround for it, I'd really like to hear about it.

Thanks,

Bill

Don't see it either in my Windows browsers. Does the scrollbar bleed through the other layer, or is the TEXTAREA simply wider? How about "display: none" instead of "visibility: hidden"?

Side-note: I notice that you use a Doctype that puts modern browsers in quirks mode. I recommend using one for standard mode. See http://hsivonen.iki.fi/doctype/

Exactly! I was making a screen shot when you posted that example.

I also updated the html on the sample page to show this without "Hiding" the layer.

It seems to be cured by using the "display: none" as suggested by Christian J. Here's an example using that code:

http://ezinvoice.com/test/layertest-2.html

Now I'll have to rewrite the Javasript to accommodate that change and see how that works out.

Thank you all! I've been struggling with this for quite awhile now and figure that the good folks at mozilla would fix it, but maybe it's not really an issue if the GoLive code I've been using is not up to snuff.
