I have a problem on this page http://www.brsd.ab.ca/cchs/ .

I attempted to clean up the code (with Dreamweaver) and the result looks fine on my Mac in Safari and Firefox but when viewed on Windows XP in IE (6 and 7) the dark blue bar disappears. The "cleaned up" page is here http://www.brsd.ab.ca/cchs/newindex.htm

In IE this new page lays out a little better, for example the bar can be seen behind the logo in the top left, however the dark blue bar is gone until one resizes the window to the edge of the last menu. The page always works properly in Safari and Firefox on my Mac.

I then validated the page using http://validator.w3.org/ this gave errors which I cleaned up but the resulting page looks worse in IE (resulting page is here http://www.brsd.ab.ca/cchs/tacoindex.html ) In Firefox (Windows) the validated page looks better but doesn't lay out properly. It looks much better in Safari on my Mac but the blue bar is farther down compared to the other pages.

The disappearing colour thing is very frustrating, especially considering it appears when the page is resized. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Greg

For me the color doesn't come until the menu wraps. This leads me to think a float needs clearing.

This is a good method to dig down to what's really the problem.
