Help needed with actioning a form with SSI (shtml),HTML or Perl, SSI or Perl? Options

Hi,

I'm designing a website for a friend however when I suggested using php to action his contact form he replyed with the following message:

slight problem with using PHP; i'm using 123-reg and it doesn't support PHP, this is taken from their website:

"123-reg supports the following coding languages:
HTML
SSI (shtml)
CGI/Perl

123-reg hosting does NOT support:
MySQL
MsSQL
PHP
ASP
JSP
.NET"

My problem is only used php and i'm unsure of how to use any of three accepted methods.

Can anyone tell me which one is easiest to use? and possibly show me post or guide on how to use it?

Then, it should be Perl, a server-side programming language, reliable for form processing. One of the scripts at http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_...orm_Processing/ may meet your needs.

thanks i found a script thats all fine thanks, one more question,

I've created my perl script and the guide im using says:

'Next upload it to the /cgi-bin/ directory of your website. Remember to upload it using ASCII mode and not "Binary" or "Auto". After uploading, change the permissions on the file to 0755 (that is, set it to be readable and executable by the owner, group and others, and writeable only by the owner).'
Whats ASCII mode uploading? I wasnt aware there was more than one way, i use dreamweaver currently, is this ok?
Also how to I change the permissions of the files to 0755?

DW's filters are probably set to ascii mode for .pl already. I don't know if DW has a full-fledged FTP client built in or of it's limited to uploading files. Someone who uses DW can probably tell you. But if you can find a FTP window that shows you the files on the server, you can probably right-click on a file and choose "permissions" or similar from the context menu. Have you searched the Help file?

Otherwise, this a good and free FTP client for Windows.
