Why can't you attach the file to a post? This Google crap is for the birds. To get this file I had to login to my Google account and even then I got a Access Denied error. I clicked the button to request access but still haven't received the email that they said was sent.

What have you done? What is the actual error message, if any? I will not convert this file for you but maybe I
can help. I have better things to do than fight with Google. Attach the file to a post.

I doubt mht can be attached here.

It didn't work to save it from IE. I downloaded the first converter I found, this.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mht2htm/fi...64.zip/download

It did the job. But you need to open the HTML file and remove this. It's the last thing in head, before the </head> tag.

CODE
<base href="http://www.chess44.com/"></base>

It makes the browser go look for the images at the original site that seems BSODed. As long as you keep the HTML and the images in the same folder, which is how the program places them, that's all you need to do.

The readme file for the program describes a GUI program. There was no such thing in my download, just a command line program. It doesn't work to click on it. But if you place mht2htmcl.exe and your mht in the same folder, then drag the mht to the mht2htmcl.exe icon and drop it on it it will do it's magic. There is no installation needed. Just unzip the download in a folder and find mht2htmcl.exe. The other files aren't important or needed.

This is weird. I get a folder of extracted image but the file is still in .mht format not .html. Is there anything else I need to do.

Look closer. There are also two HTML files in the same folder as the images. One, _0_start_me.htm, is just a report about what the program did, I think. I didn't look too close. The other one, het-spel.html, is the one you want. See the screen cap below.

I must confess the tool was of limited usefulness. In addition to the format of said saved webpage being different then all my other .html conversions, it also didn't work when I tried to convert other files with it.

The format? You mean the file name? Rename it to whatever you want, that doesn't matter. It worked for me and you got the images out. Are you saying you really didn't get any html files?

Well, it was the first I found. Try another one.

Here you have the html file attached below. Just plop it in a folder with the images and it'll work. After you have removed that base href line I showed you, that is.

I mean that I couldn't take the .html file out of the folder. Unlike elsewhere where said .html file IS outside the folder. DOes that explain it or do I need to explain more?

But you can just copy or cut the files and place them where ever you want. There's nothing special with them. unsure.gif

I DID copy and paste it, but the file didn't properly open anymore. Would taking screenshots and sharing help?

What does that mean? That you couldn't open it or that it looked odd when you opened it?

The latter. It looked fine when I opened it in the folder. But when I tried to copy and paste AND THEN open it.

It must be in the same folder as the images (or you have to edit the URLs in the IMG tags) and you need to remove that base href tag.

I think you need to understand a little of the HTML. Images are embedded with the IMG tag. For example this one.

CODE
<img width="25" height="16" align="right" alt="English" valign="top" src="vlag-GB.jpg">

The value of src is the URL to the image. If that consists of only the file name that means that the image is in the same folder as the HTML. If you for instance put the HTML in one folder and then create another folder inside the first folder for your images and call it "images" the URL would need to change from this

CODE
vlag-GB.jpg

to this.

CODE
images/vlag-GB.jpg

Thank you. That helped a great deal with figuring out that particular file. Unfortunately, I am not even sure where to begin with this next one. The previous tool... well I don't know how to describe it other then try for yourself.

Well, that came out as mush. Both with the tool I found and when saving from IE as Webpage complete. Can probably be fixed, but not easily since you don't know HTML.

Any chance you can do it for me? Or know how I can find someone else who can?
