response.redirect w/vars Options

I have a response.redirect on an asp page

response.redirect("https://sumsite.com/login.ws?username=("name")&password=("pass")&dest=sumpage.ws")
%>

name and pass are variables that i have defined higher up on the page
whenever I execute the page, it says I am missing something in the response.redirect

can someone help me make the redirect work, while pulline the username and password from variables
