Made a site for my dads magazine

www.wildscapemag.co.uk

and works in ie7 and firefox.

but some people cant get it to work, im guessing I have bad markup that stops it working in older browsers, can anyone help me with this ??

ALSO , is it possible to run older versions of IE so I can test pages before I upload them ?

thanks

What doesn't work exactly?

Sorry, I'm on Safari/Mac, comparable with Firefox. If yet you can install multiple versions of IE on a PC, there exists a site in which you can see what your page does in other browsers on different platforms. I forgot the address, but maybe someone passing by will remember.

And yes, you do have errors on your page, as the on line validator can point out. I wonder why you use an XHTML DOCTYPE, but your code seems better off with HTML 4 Transitional.

As far as I can work out they can get the header and the pull down menues but they dont work and no page content. which kinda defeats the purpose of the site lol.

I used xhtml as I thought it was what supposed to use with CSS, im kinda new at this so fogive me.

thanks

It seems you're using PNG images with alpha transparency, which IE6 doesn't support (without complicated workarounds). As a result, the whole page is black rather than yellow, and the "Wildscape" and "All New Site" images get a solid white background that drown the white text of the menu. In addition, these two images interfere with the opened menus so that the menu closes if the mouse is in front of the image. Also the white main text content doesn't show up in IE6.

In Opera9 I get a wide unnecessary horizontal scrollbar, which suggests something's broken.

In Firefox2 I get a horizontal scrollbar and double vertical scrollbars (one for the whole window, and one for the yellow area).

A few years ago someone discovered how to doctor the IE installations to stop them from eating each other. Hmmm, the page that had it all seems to be gone. Try here.

Note that you must use the special standalone versions. Don't try to do it with the original installation files.
