Hi Guys,

sorry i am not sure where to put this topic because i am new in this kind of programming...
I am managing an homepage for an music artist. We recently started to build up a newsletter. Now we want people to sign in to it.

The idea is to create a popup which starts by a onclick on a download link and directs the consumer to the downladpage, but only after signing in for a newsletter/filling (FB like maybe too) in the email field. Here are the steps/functions i want to do.
Current conditions of website and Server:
we have mysql, mp3 are saved on external server like rapidshare, php, javascript, css and of course html is possible

how can i create following codes??
1:
- onclick on downladlink
- popup for a newsletter sign in
- after signing in download starts directly
- option to cancel, download does not start, redirecting to site

2:
- onclick on downladlink
- popup for a email input field (should be saved in a textfile or send to email or on a server...)
- after signing in download starts directly
- option to cancel, download does not start, redirecting to site

3:
- onclick on downladlink
- popup for a facebook page like
- after "liking" the page download starts directly
- option to cancel, download does not start, redirecting to site

i hope i could explain you my idea/problem. Do you have a code for that? How do you call this kind of function and how do i create them (javascript and php)?

thank you Timbo

I'd consider only making download links appear after the user has logged in. As a user I become annoyed and leave the site if I click what promises to be a download link and instead get a sign-up message.

Doesn't that site use download restrictions, like a delay before downloading? That's a further annoyance. sad.gif
