Edge was automagically updated. Now it tries to change the registry to let itself auto-start everytime I open it and it seems a little at random too.

I have this very small and old program that watches the registry for additions to that key and lets me reject it. Amazingly the program still works after what feels like decades. But it's getting a little tiresome to reject the Edge intrusion all the time since the program doesn't remember my previous choices.

Or maybe I'm exaggerating and it won't actually start Edge (if I let it), but just some process? Here's the string MS wants to add.

But msedge.exe is the Edge executable, isn't it? Is it running in the background all the time? You don't even use Edge, do you?

BTW I can recommend the little StartupMonitor. It has stopped a lot of programs from running at startup for me. Normally it's enough to reject the intrusion once. It's easier than to remove them later. It's just 86 kB.

Yes it seems so. Now I started Edge, and the number of processes was reduced to just two. When I closed Edge, there were five again. laugh.gif

Only rarely, for testing.
