How can i make a forum on my site is there an ebook for this to help me build a forum? Forum software such as this one is available from many vendors. Some is free, and some (like this one) is not. Some free forums: A couple of pro forums (cost): Wikipedia also has a massive Comparison of Internet forum software. There is no single book that can cover this subject adequately. However each of the software vendors has their own instructions and discussion forums which will help newbies get their boards up and running. Some, like Invision Power Board, will even install the software for you. Good luck, John |

If you plan to stay at geocities you can't run server side scripts though. Then you can use a so called remotely hosted service. You find a bunch listed here.

There are also very good SaaS solutions out there, that allow you to setup a Q&A forum in just a couple minutes (such as Answerbase.com and GetSponge.com, I recommend checking out Answerbase.com since they have quite a bit of credibility in the field).
Since traditional forums are pretty much a glorified directory structure, a lot of people consider these Q&A systems the next generation of forum software. Forums can get a bit toxic after awhile, since you have members that just shoot the breeze back and forth so the content isn't extremely valuable and it takes forever to sift through to the good stuff. The Q&A format provides tools to identify the good answers to questions and keep them high on the page right under the question, so your other visitors/users have a positive experience. I would check out Answerbase.com first since they have a few good brand names under their belt, and they have pricing ranges for pretty much any size site. Good luck:) |

Well if you want to integrate a good forum on your site go for Vbulletin software.
That is best forum software. But if you want you can use other free forum software. I will suggest you to build you site in Drupal and you can easily integrate forum module in that. |

Don't you think the license would be a little intimidating for someone who is probably installing a forum for the first time, especially since he can't run it where he's hosted? Or rather was going to do that 5 years ago. Maybe he runs several vBulletin boards now.

Well it depends on personal choice, whether you want to go for this or not. I am not saying that you have to go for vbulletin software. I just suggesting because I find vbulletin software to be the best software for forums
You can get maximum number of functionality in that software and these functionalities are very easy to use. |
