phpmyadmin returns: 2002 - Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).

Already googled and tried everything, nothing directly address my particular #2002 problem. I even trashed MAMP & reinstalled - mysql server then started, but as soon as I quit MAMP and later opened it, got same #2002 error again.

Any ideas? Thx.

Then I wonder what you googled for.
Try "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/Applications/MAMP/tmp/mysql/mysql.sock'" with or without (2) at the end.

I'm not familiar with MAMP, nor with mysql.sock. I use the local installed server, PHP and MySQL on my Mac (10.8 ML).
