Is FBI still hacking users of Tor all over the world? You use Tor, don't you? I remember reading about some mass-hacking bill that empowered them to do that - and they did - a few years back, but haven't seen anything about it lately.

Is FBI still hacking users of Tor all over the world? Probably as many as they can. QUOTE You use Tor, don't you? Yes, especially for Google and Youtube. Besides the (hopefully) increased anonymity, it also prevents Google from returning "personalized" search results. Brave can also use the Tor network, but I haven't tried it much. Don't know if it retains Google data like vanilla Chrome. QUOTE I remember reading about some mass-hacking bill that empowered them to do that - and they did - a few years back, but haven't seen anything about it lately. No idea, but I'm sure such organizations do it wether it's legal or not. |

Hadn't heard of Brave before, so I looked it up. Sounded good until I came to this.
CODE Brave Rewards Earn frequent flier-like tokens just for browsing Turn on Brave Rewards to earn frequent flier-like tokens for viewing privacy-respecting ads. You can set the number of ads you see per hour. Currently you can support your favorite web creators with your tokens, but soon you’ll be able to spend tokens on premium content, gift cards, and more. And it looks like it has horrible chrome like all the rest. I want normal buttons and menus and they should have features! How hard can it be? ![]() |

Did you know that the guy behind Brave is the creator of JavaScript?

Yes, but this part was new to me:
QUOTE He completed the first version in ten days in order to accommodate the Navigator 2.0 Beta release schedule It sure sounds like Netscape. ![]() |

Hey, Netscape was the best there was in those days.
I tried to find some kind of specification or description of the first JS version, but had no luck with that. But I found this rather interesting page. https://auth0.com/blog/a-brief-history-of-javascript/ I knew (or thought) it was originally called LiveScript, but I didn't know it was renamed twice. It was called Mocha first, then LiveScript. And there really was a connection to Java. I thought Java was just used as a buzzword. And there is no use to google for LiveScript or Mocha, because modern languages have stolen those names. ![]() |
