i am using iframes to display banners which rotate automatically without the need to refresh the page. i have a problem however when ever there is a transition between images there is a white space that comes before each new image. can i get rid if this white space or mask it in anyway? someone says its a flaw in iframes or rather a feature but it does not look professional at all. besides i dont see this flaw say on http://msn.com or other websites that displays banners automatically. what do they have that i dont? is there a better methodology that will handle automatic rotation of ads better than iframe?
pls see my test page http://www.yougotlovemail.com/index_adpeep_iframe.html |

I'm not seeing any white space in IE 7.0 or Firefox 2.0.0.1
However, I get a few 404's from things your script isn't loading. Page has quite a few errors as well. |

One of these prewritten CGI ad programs or prewritten PHP ad programs may meet your needs.I find that disabling inline frames in my browser helps reduce the ads and other annoyances sites inflict upon me. |

Are you sure? i am using I.E 7 and there are white spaces everytime an image chages to another on all three banners. this happens within 30 secs. surely you see the same thing?
I will try your version of firefox though as i have 1.8 and it displays white spaces. I was uploading to the site at the time hence 404 errors but you shouldnt get them now as every link is working |

What about the ads on the front page of this site (which you seem to be a principal of), or is this site somehow more different/privileged than any other, or are you merely commenting on *how* they're delivered to you? A bit hypocritical, IMHO. This post has been edited by Peter1968: Feb 15 2007, 11:45 PM |

Hello
Let me clarify. Currently the adverts on the link i gave only change when refreshed. I would prefer the top banner for example to change automatically to the next one without being refreshed like you would see on many websites. I am using iframe for this auto. rotation but it appears to have the flaw of a white space displaying for a few seconds before the next adverts appears. this is so so wrong. How can anyone live with that white space? |

It doesn't sound like an iframe issue. It sounds like a data preloading issue.

How can anyone live with that white space? Since it's nothing critical you could use JavaScript to update the iframe at certain intervals. Or you could make it really easy and use a Meta refresh. Make the PHP script write it. |
