Hi everyone!
I converted my old page to xhtml transitional 1.0 to update my page. ( i work with dreamweaver 8)
Now there's a problem:
My navigation menu is made in Flash and worked very well in my old page.
But now, when i click on a topic, the right link is opened but in a new window....and not in the right frame in my index frameset.
Tried to check out all links and their properties (_blank, _self, _parent....), but i didn't change the flash menu, so i have no idea, why this thing doesn't work any more..
Is there some known bug maybe?
HELP please!

Cheers

Only for those using/allowing Flash, which excludes e.g. search engines.

Without a sample page it's hard to say what the cause might be. One guess might be that you renamed the right frame's NAME in the frameset document.

BTW frames cause many problems: http://htmlhelp.com/faq/html/frames.html#frame-problems

Except when Flash is disabled/unavailable, of course.

It sounds like a good opportunity to fix your site navigation to make it more accessible.

So, when i update my page, it would be a great improvement to exclude flash?
here's my page: www.sunshine-dries.com
(Sorry for the bad style, it's under construction)
I like the navigation bar, because it gives some action to the site, but yeah it has some disadvantages..
Thanks for the link, gonna read it now!

If Flash serves the content, then certainly include Flash content. But don't make site navigation depend on it.

I get three empty frames, and a fourth frame with a "click to enter" image. Once I click through, I get a page with no useful navigation links. (I can switch between the German and English versions, but that's it.)

I'm trashing this flash navigation.... It's too buggy. The new testversion (only a jpeg with linkfields) works pretty much faster and without bugs. Even the frameset makes no problems any more.
Merci! for the fast replys

Have you uploaded the new non-Flash version now?

On http://www.sunshine-dries.com/indexeng.html the links do open inside the frameset like they should.

On http://www.sunshine-dries.com/menuebalkensd.html the navigation menu is made with an image map, not Flash. Image maps also cause problems for browsers or search engines that don't get any useful image ALT text (both because the ALT attribute is currently missing and because of lack of browser suppport). A better solution would be to put separate inline images (with suitable ALT text) inside separate links, or even better use plain text links styled with CSS.

Thanks for the hints!
Yes i've removed the flash. The imagemap works very well with Safari and Firefox, but i considered about a text-link navigation too. Gonna work this out..

Thanks!
