Full Version: What's wrong with my Win7?
HTMLHelp Forums > Web Authoring > Markup (HTML, XHTML, XML)
Docfxit
I receive emails from some companies that the graphics don't display correctly.
This is what one email looks like in my email program (Pegasus Email)
IPB Image

I can't change the HTML they send me. And I can't change how the email program displays the HTML. I'm thinking there must be something with the setup of my Win7 64bit Ultimate PC that is causing this problem.
This is the begining of the HTML in the email:

I don't think it's Windows' fault. Do you know that the email can be viewed on another system? Can you access it with webmail and check how it looks there?

The URLs are seriously fucked up. It looks like broken URL encoding that probably shouldn't be there at all.

For instance the URL for this image.
CODE
<img src=3D=22https://em=2Eharborfreight=2Ecom/pub/as?_ri_=3DX0Gzc2X%3DYQpg=
lLjHJlYQGny1wprYDGR1aOav4HfG3LRzeq3GuKzbzf53Xv6OYzbHlTzcRzdv8bJnVXHkMX%3Dw&=

%3D that the URL begins with is correct URL encoding for a hyphen (-) and that's the format URL encoded characters have, a percent sign followed by two characters or numbers.

In the beginning of the URL you have =3D=22. Obviously the URL should begin with what comes after that, https://. That URL doesn't lead anywhere. The mumbo jumbo looks like broken %3D%22, which is URL encoded equal sign and double quote (="). URL encoded or not, those characters have nothing there to do. There are more fractions like that buried in the long URL.

I don't know if the email is malformatted to begin with or if your email client or something on the way has screwed things up. sad.gif

Forgot to say, it isn't just the URLs. The mumbo jumbo is all over the place. It starts with the doctype already.

CODE
<=21DOCTYPE html>

That should be like this.
CODE
<!DOCTYPE html>

%21 is an exclamation mark URL encoded, which makes some kind of crazy sense.

When I think about it, I think I've seen this before, probably in mail. But I still don't know the cause.
