In Windows Explorer. Upon clicking on a shtm file or html file Internet explorer 8 opens the file properly.

However when I attempt to open a shtml file IE opens a new window and displays

Navigation to the webpage was cancled.

Is this a problem with IE8 or am i missing something in the page I created.

The page does load properly from my web site.

Thanks
Christian J
The .shtml extension is often used for web pages generated by a server that features SSI. Possibly you can configure browsers to treat .shtml files like ordinary .html files in your computer's file system, but the pages will be shown without their SSI content.

Another way to view them from your own computer is to install a local server.

OK I thought I was going nuts but I'm not on this any how.

I put the shtml file on a thumb drive and stuck it in a older computer with Internet Explorer 6.

The shtml file opens as a web page as I thought it used to do.

But this does not work in IE 8.
