Hi all,

I'm new here, I'm from Italy and my name is Giovanni.
I'm quite new also to web programming, and I'm just learning how web works building up my personal site (www.nanito.it).
I have a question for you:
My host provider gives me unlimited space for my website, so I'd like to use it also for file storage (network drive).
currently I'm doing this through a FTP client, but my desire is to get rid of any FTP client and access to my data directly from my website, in a simple way, cause even my wife and few relatives would use the web space.
Is there a way to build such a functionality?
Something like a login panel and a "file explorer" from the browser, with the possibility to manage files and "directory" on the remote drive.
is there anything already ready?
Or, any suggestion on how to build it from scratch, which language to use, which tool, whatevere else could be useful?

Thank you in advance.

Ciao,
Giovanni

Alas in webhosting "unlimited" usually means nothing like it in practice, e.g. some web host may explicitly disallow online file storage in their fine print.

Otherwise there should be ready-made such scripts. Writing it yourself means learning some server-side scripting language like PHP.

Here are some existing services listed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_hosting_service

Well, even if unlimited isn't unlimited the space that comes with a normal account these days really is a lot.

This script was great a couple of years and few versions back. Haven't tried it lately.
