Full Version: "Filtering" nonsense

Brian Chandler
Nobody complimented me on getting (a) (b) (с) into my post, so I'll just repeat it here.

Feel free to copy and paste the (с) into your own posts (of course it's © Brian Chandler 2009), and the malevolent may insert just the 'с' into 'f***' or whatever. So the "filtering" crap messes up genuine posts, and doesn't stop evil ones. I think it's time for it to go.

The sequence left-round-bracket : lowercase c : right-round-bracket should not naturally occur in a PHP program, so it should be easy to find.

I'm all for turning the word censor off. You can't imagine how it mangles other languages than English. It's seems many Swedish words are dirty if you assume they are English. For example, end or finish is s*l*u*t in Swedish. tongue.gif

This copyright thing can't be the word censor. Maybe it's a feature BBCode?

So how did you do it? The board has already converted what you wrote back when you Edit or Quote, so no way to peep. I use decimal character references. If you have come up with something else that also works, please share.

It's a cyrillic letter. I get masses of spam in Russian (no, no idea!!) and I just pasted it in.

(This incidentally is why the wonderful-sounding idea of having web addresses in "various languages" is a stupid disaster.)
