I need to add a download area to a website.
In the past I have put links on a web page (in a password protected directory) and invited people to use the “save as” option from IE.

I would like to have a directory into which the downloadable documentation could be placed (Please note – this is only our company’s stuff), allow people to see all the items in the directory and download the items they require.

Is there an easy way of doing this?

I want to avoid having to list all the files on a webpage and modifying it each time a new document is uploaded.

Do you mean like this?

It's matter of configuring the server to list the files in a directory. If you are on Apache you can do it with .htaccess. See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod/core.html#options .
