Hi all,
I want to start my own web design business. There are some questions that are luring in my mind. I do have one or two clients to get started but how can I get more and spread my work to masses? How do I start designing for people? Do I need a site that displays my work, etc?

Just one or two clients is not really enough to make a good portfolio. But in a site of your own, you could explain what you do (philosophy), what you offer (services). Don't advertise prices, as each project will (and should) have its own price tag, depending on the difficulty and vastness of a project.

You could put a link to your own site on the sites you make for your clients. People who like those sites, may be interested in hiring you.

You could set up a portfolio page already, or when you'll have enough to show.

And you could start an AdWords campaign. For more about that, see https://adwords.google.com/select/Login.

If I wanted to do this, I would start small. I would have a site and I would put its URL on my business card. I would approach small local businesses that may benefit from a web site (or needs a better one than they have) and I would do that in person. Hairdressers, restaurants, small services, that kind of thing.
