Don't you just need to copy all the files into the site directory? Including subdirectories, of course...

The document root ("c:\site" in your case) should correspond with "http://localhost/" in the browser.

Please visit This Site for more info. It's a pretty easy install with a PHP parser and MySql database all bundled and ready to go. When it's running you access it with ' http://c:\localhost which will reveal a directory to your server root site. Good luck, it's fun.

I'm wanting to run a mail server locally for testing. Does anyone have tips?

Hi.
There is an incredible package called Denwer. Its official site is in russian language but you can probably manage to download the install.
What it does?
1) installs appache
2) installs php and mysql . don't remember exactly but suppose perl is intalled as well
3) configures this all to work togather
so after install you only need to put your php code on mounted after install Z: drive , everything will work right away.
