Full Version: Homepage not consistent with rest of site

Hi,

I'm trying to create this website for an assignment but at the moment I'm being told that the home page and the other pages of the site aren't consistent. The code (not the content) is identical and I can't see what is causing the discrepancy and thus how to fix it.

The part of the home page that isn't working looks like the image "homepage.jpg": Click to view attachment

That same part on the other pages looks like the image "otherpages.jpg": Click to view attachment

I don't know why this is happening and I'd be really grateful for any help. I've attached the entire folder structure Click to view attachment (don't worry, it's only 40kb) to this post.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Please post the URL to a couple of sample pages.

I've attached the entire site in my original post as a zip file. The site is live at http://yr8water.site50.net/water/ (root) but may not look identical to the ones provided above as I think it's a different version but I can't upload the newer version whilst at school, as it's blocked.

Thanks for any help.

You've specified a top margin of 0 for div#mainContent, but you haven't specified top margins for the h1 at the top of div#mainContent in info.htm or for the p at the top of div#mainContent in index.htm. Different browsers will have different defaults for these margins, and in CSS, adjacent margins collapse, which will have odd effects like this when the margin of child element ends up extending outside the parent element, essentially giving the parent element a margin.

Thank you so much! That seems to work smile.gif
