Full Version: Format problems with Firefox

I am a neophyte to web authoring.
I am attempting to put together a web page with a Header and two columns: left 20% with Nav buttoms, right columns 80% with various text
I am trying to get a web page up and running without using any software such Adobe. Straight HTML and CSS. The page looks OK in Opera and Explorer. In Firefox (believe it to be 3.0.3) , the fonts are reduced in size and the Nav buttons are about 10% larger/wider than in the other browsers. Some of the text in tables is so small that it is barely readable. I do not have a clue as to how to fix this nor where to get information from to attempt to fix this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MORE INFO;
Just installed Safari and looked at the page with Safari. Looks to be exactly the same problem as with Firefox. Fonts too small or at least much smaller and the Nav buttons too large

First, thank you for the response.
WELLLL do not have it online yet. Just working with the files before going downtown with it. Guess I could upload it to earthlink.

There is general advice in the FAQ entry Why does my page display fine in one browser but incorrectly or not at all in another?

Are the browsers configured similarly? With similar default fonts, etc.?

all browsers have a default font of: times new roman.

Code is: <table style="font-family:times, georgia, verdana">

I have used the HTM and CSS validators and they say there are no problems. Pandy suggested I provide the URL but these are not on line as yet. Could sent the files.

Also hope I am providing content in the appropriate form- I'm new at this.

Is it only one file? You can attach it to the post (scroll down a bit and you'll see the upload form). If there are several files it's better if you can put them online.

Yes, unfortunately there are multiple files. i only have 10 megs of web space SO will need to delete & get the files down to a manageable size. Unfortunately, can not get to it for at least a week SO
THAT I DO NOT WASTE ANYONES TIME, BETTER TO BAG IT FOR THE TIME BEING AND START THIS AGIN IN A WEEK OR SO.

Thank you to all
