Hi

I created a website and 'Flashed' most of the images. My client tells me that she's had a few people come back to her saying that they cannot view the images. The images don't download, so all they see is a white space. Does anyone know what the problem could be and how I can get round it?

The site address is: www.ayonote.com

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be helpful.

Thank you.

Maybe they don't have Flash enabled? Maybe they don't have Flash?

I recommend that you get rid of the content-free entry page.

But I don't see much content on your main page either, and the links don't work.

Use the href attribute for a real URL, so the link does something useful when JavaScript is disabled/unavailable. Using href="#" is broken.

Hi Darin

Thanks for your comments.

re - Flash Enabling - is there a way I can get the users to download flash if they don't have it enabled?

Entry Page - this was done at the request of the client.

The links actually do work. You just need to hover over the crystals.

Not sure I understand what you mean by this. Is there a particular link you're referring to?

Regarding the missing flash, another option is that some users use software that filter web content. For exampel some firewalls think they should protect you from ads and they may filter them away based on criteria such as size, name and location.

Do you know which flash images were missing? Do you know anything about those users' setup, browser and so on? Could those users see any flash at all at the site?

You can ask. But my experience trying to use sites where all the content is in Flash has been pretty negative. Rather than enable Flash, I prefer to go elsewhere to get the information I need.

Is something supposed to happen when I hover over the crystals? (hint)

I think maybe their Firewall has flash stuff blocked. Cause I know this happened to me and I had to disable it for some of the animated GIF's I saw online to work.

Ok, does anyone know any other way, apart from duplicating the site without Flash (for those that haven't enabled and won't enable Flash) that I could get round this?

No. smile.gif

You are supposed to have alternate content inside the <object>...</object>, or <embed>...</embed> if you use that. Not sure how well that works in practice when Flash is blocked for one reason or another. The thingie that blocks flash may very well do so by removing the OBJECT tag and all its content altogether.
