Is there a way to display a local directory as links in html that updates when files are added?

From a server? No, not unless you run a server on your own machine too.

Or did you mean on your own machine, for your own use? You can try to just link to the directory. I think most browsers will display the files now. IE will give you the same view as you use in Explorer.

Yes, I understood that. But is the HTML file also local or is it on a server?
