I've only recently returned to HTML due to an interest in layout design. My goal is to create one for a journal with one particular table column set as an iframe. Once the hosting site's attributes are set, it works fine, except without an image in the background as I intended.

Are there any ways to achieve this desired result?

If you'd like to take a look to see what I mean, my journal's at:

starless.diaryland.com

Thanks.

I get redirected to an error page. (Except it isn't really an error page. It's a normal page that says it's an error page. But I digress...)

The background of the iframe is specified by the framed document, not by the framing document. Does that address your problem?
