principles of logo design
Darin McGrew
FWIW, I've heard that the rules of heraldry are a sound foundation for designing logos. In either case, the goal is to develop an easily recognizable symbol.

The most fequently violated rule of logo design is probably KISS. Overly complicated logos are hard to recognize, and are ineffective.

IMOWMOMNBHBIGIA, one of the best examples of a logo that's ornate and ineffective belongs to the UK "Clear English" campaign. <grin>

Wow... I'm impressed. Of course, once this page gets indexed, that will no longer be true.

thats very sensitive subject, but what i can tell you is very important to choose right colors for logo. for example logo for a construction company using pink and baby blue colors wont fly. colors have to reflect the company profile.

second rule is to make sure logo will withstand media differences.
for example it should be able to be put on a website, offset ptinter, t shirt, engraved on wood, spray on glass and on a contrasting backgrounds.

avoid small elements, thin multiple lines and dots.

for starting companies it's always benecial to integrate company name into logo for marketing purposes.

example nike. nike used their logo NIKE then the the design swoosh element was developed and name nike was dropped decades later only when the symbol became instantly recognizable.

same thing did Adidas , Apple
''simplify and emphesize'' was the idea.

dont ever use clipart. did i mention never to use clipart?

imagina a motion that reflects business profile and freeze it then try to make a mark out of it. Viewer has to see continuation of the action when looking at the logo preferably.
good luck.

good, only suggestion i have is its better that you combine logo graphic element with the name . Define transition point, so they kind of merge.
briefly i would suggest starting the line on letter ''D'' of Drift as extension of it. as if word drift left a trail by moving below. emphesize action, in this case word drift , give it a character. symetry usually ruins esthetics.
start with thick end from letter ''D'' and narrow it down upwards. so that the ''swoosh' extends above the letters.

yes, you have to look out some basic principles when you design your company Logo because the Company Logo is not just any Graphic design which can be used, it should be designed according to the Nature of Business and Brand or products(the logo design should resemble either the company or its product). for more information visit http://logoangel.com/. you can also enjoy attractive professional LOGO and download it at free of cost.

Colors are just part of it. Actually the symbolic shapes representing your ideas and the conceivable image of your website or business is much more important. Browsing through all the logs in this huge logo archive may help you understand how others are designing logos.
