thats very sensitive subject, but what i can tell you is very important to choose right colors for logo. for example logo for a construction company using pink and baby blue colors wont fly. colors have to reflect the company profile.
second rule is to make sure logo will withstand media differences.
for example it should be able to be put on a website, offset ptinter, t shirt, engraved on wood, spray on glass and on a contrasting backgrounds.
avoid small elements, thin multiple lines and dots.
for starting companies it's always benecial to integrate company name into logo for marketing purposes.
example nike. nike used their logo NIKE then the the design swoosh element was developed and name nike was dropped decades later only when the symbol became instantly recognizable.
same thing did Adidas , Apple
''simplify and emphesize'' was the idea.
dont ever use clipart. did i mention never to use clipart?
imagina a motion that reflects business profile and freeze it then try to make a mark out of it. Viewer has to see continuation of the action when looking at the logo preferably.
good luck.
reading this, It almost makes me feel as if i did the right thing?
