Full Version: Drop Down Menu with Filter Function
HTMLHelp Forums > Web Authoring > Web Site Functionality
Hey Folks!

Ok, so I am working on a page on Tumblr for a friend of mine, but I am running into an issue that I just can't seem to figure out.

I have this page setup and it sorts perfectly, but, as you can see at the top, there are a ton of categories listed and it just doesn't look good and isn't too terribly user-friendly.

What I would like to have is a drop down menu with those categories that, when selected, will filter the same way it does now with just the list of categories.

I have found tutorials for drop down menus, but they are all for using actual URLs and not filtered items.

So, I'm at a complete loss on how to do this, if it's even possible.

I would really appreciate any help that someone can provide. I've been working on this page and trying to figure this out at the same time and I'm starting to lose my hair smile.gif

Again, I really appreciate any help on this one.

Just let me know if you need any additional information.

Thank You,
Those categories are already in a list (UL), though not as it should. All links are directly inside the UL, but should each be inside a LI.

Then, using a drop down menu (nested list), you can still use the same links with their respective data-option-filters.

Thank you for this information, but I'm still a little confused on how to get the content to fit within a drop down menu...

I have attached the code that I am looking at for a drop down menu, but I'm not sure how to get the categories/filters to work within this code

Thank you for all of your help!

I supposed you wanted a CSS based drop down menu, using a list (as in the demo at, but the text file has a SELECT menu.

The advantage of a CSS based menu is that you can keep using the A links as you have now, just putting them each in a LI inside an UL. That way, the script taking care of the data-option-filter will probably still work. I'm not so sure of that with a SELECT menu.

Mind you, I hardly have any knowledge of Tumblr coding.
