im new at css, and need help creating a bg, i could just use photoshop and make it 800 in width and 700 in height but id have to go back to photoshop and fix the height every time i add on to the site, whats the DIV code for a fixed bg with a width of 800px and height of 700px, i just want to be able to change the height manually if my content exceeds the length of the page, its a hassle doing it by photoshop..

i don't want you to get the background of the layout confused with the body.

You can't stretch a background with CSS (yet). You can make it tile in only one direction or not at all.
