Folks,

On my blog at http://onemansblog.com Avant browser is reporting that I've got 9 script errors that are all due to "invalid characters", but I can't figure out where they are, much less what the problem is.

I'd appreciate a little help with:
  • How to find them
  • How to fix them
Thanks,

John

AFAIK Avant is an IE Shell, and to see the error log in IE you have to double click on the "Done, but with errors on the page" message that appears in the bottom left corner.

The errors all appear to be "Invalid characters" and do not seem to be reported by other browsers. I only checked the first error and it's reporting a t as an invalid character...

Here's an HTML error: http://www.htmlhelp.com/cgi-bin/validate.c...nemansblog.com/ but fixing it still didn't help.

I found no "t". Instead when I tried removing the allegedly erroneous line 603, the error instead showed up in various nearby places for no obvious reason. I also tried removing SCRIPT elements, but only deleting all of them seemed to help.

Does it matter if cookies (including cross-domain) and/or activeX are enabled (mine are not)?

By first error I mean the first in the document, not the first IE shows. It was around line 307, column 33, IIRC, and it was a "t" in patience. Methinks IE is just being retarded.
John Pozadzides
Yes. It's very tricky... I'm glad it isn't just me having a hard time with this one.

I originally did as Effovex suggested to view the errors in IE, but since it didn't give me much info I thought perhaps there was a better way.

I fixed all the other validation errors on the page, but that last one that Christian noticed is one I can't seem to get rid of. The @ is invalid and even when I escaped it, it still showed an error.

That is the script for Yahoo search that is at the top of the page. I don't really like it so I'll probably replace it with another search engine and hopefully then my site will finally validate for the first time in like 6 months. :-)

When I click in the "OK" button in the Avant Browser Options window
the address bar, the search bar and the standard bar arrange themself in the same line, I don't know how to solve this problem.

I have corrected the link from my post.

Now i'm using the new version of Avant Browser and i think it's really good. One issue is if Avant Browser is closed improperly, all open web pages are saved and will be automatically reopened at next startup.
