Hi everyone! Hope you are doing well on this Friday night.

Ok, I know html, but am now learning everything about website creation from start to finish. I work in Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks. I am working on a website for my husbands band. I only have launched two pages, as I am in desperate need of ideas for the others as they are boring boring. I am also unhappy with the index page, but can redo it later as I learn more.

So, is there some good places to get good flash scripts, to learn how to do more, so I can add some desperately needed pizazz.

Thanks a bunch,
Becca

Here's the start if anyone wants to see it:
www.simplybent.com

For a beginner, its ok. But as I learn, there is so much more I want to do and do differently. I have already changes the site 3 times..........lol

I think the best "pizazz" you can have is content. Tell your visitors about the band, about their music, where they're playing, etc.

I'd drop the content-free entry page and have http://www.simplybent.com/ go straight to the main welcome page that is currently at http://www.simplybent.com/home.htm

Then, just flesh out the content, using the categories you've already got:
  • a welcome page with a paragraph or two about the band and possibly a couple paragraphs of current news
  • a contact page (combine "Booking", "Requests", "Email", and "Commments" onto one page, using multiple sections for different types of contact if necessary)
  • a page with downloadable music samples ("Music")
  • a list of upcoming (and possibly past) performances ("Gigs")
  • an info page about the group members ("Bios")
  • a photo album (possibly combined with "Bios" if you don't have many photos yet)

There are a few other improvements I'd recommend (e.g., using real text for the navigation links rather than pictures of text, or at least using appropriate ALT attributes), but you don't need "pizazz" as much as you need to finish what you've started.
This is a "lo-fi" version of our main content. To view the full version with more information, formatting and images, please click here.
