I know in some RSS feeds - like [url-http://www.tdscripts.com/webmaster_utilities/podcast-generator.php]this one[/url] but I have not seen a reference to a background image.

With it being transparent - would you actually see it?

You can use CSS or XSL to make RSS feeds prettier. You'll find links on this matter at http://www.d.umn.edu/itss/support/Training...gn/xml.html#rss.

But, I haven't ever seen a background (image or color) applied to a feed.
And even then, know that not all browsers and/or news agregators may render the feed fancified.

Transparent only means that some parts of the image are transparent.
That way, you can for instance put such an image seemingly on any background color.

I understand that totally but I have seen so many posts re: transparency that most of the time an image is not even needed by the time they realize it

Now, I don't understand you.
What do you mean by

What I have seen a number of times on forums - they have an image but they want it to have a transparent background. And then when they realize that the transparency 'will be shown' they then say they don't want / need that and do not rely on an image
Frederiek
Then, they don't know how to make a transparent image!
