Full Version: replacement for noembed tag?

Hi

I have a home page for my site that is a full screen flash movie. The result of course is that search engines don't see anything.

So I then used <noembed> tags and added some text and links to the other site pages (and a link to the Flash download site for those that don't have Flash installed). The idea is that the text will not appear if the user has Flash but will be seen by the robots. It seem to work OK but the code validator does not like it.

The <noembed> tag has been deprecated by <object> and, if I use the object tag then the text appears on the screeen below my movie.

How do I add text that won't be seen if the user has Flash and is this a sensible strategy please?
BTW, as you must realise I am a newbie at this game.

cheers

It goes inside the <object>...</object> tags. See http://htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/object.html for examples.

thanks for that.
I am also having a problem in that my movie, which should be full screen displays fine in IE6 but scrunches up to the top quarter of the screen in Firefox. The url is:
www.mad4maths.com/TEST13.html

Any ideas as to what is wrong please?

thanks
john
