Hi

I have just made my first ever website for my Graphics Design business, I have a problem with the site however, the address is www.vypadesigns.co.uk. The problem I have is with the distortion which you can see , the border near to top is seperated and at the bottom the border is also out of shape, the strange thing is this only appears to be evident when using IE, if you view the site with Firefox it looks perfect. I have even tried removing the border when making another site but the distortion still occured. I designed the layout and sliced this in Photoshop, the only image is the page header and the banner, all text and buttons were inserted in Dreamweaver. Any idea what I can do to fix this?

Please help me with this one as its crucial, someone out there must know the answer

the address is www.vypadesigns.co.uk.

Which cloaks http://www.zen20090.zen.co.uk/VypaDesigns/index.html

I recommend pointing vypadesigns.co.uk to a proper webhost instead of the current approach, or (second best) use www.zen20090.zen.co.uk/VypaDesigns directly

The border images http://www.zen20090.zen.co.uk/VypaDesigns/...es/index_02.jpg and http://www.zen20090.zen.co.uk/VypaDesigns/...es/index_09.jpg are not tall enough for all the text in the center column, except when using tiny text sizes. Instead I recommend using tiling CSS background images. See the CSS reference on this site.

the only image is the page header and the banner,

That's obviosuly not correct. wink.gif

As a side-note I recommend that you add a strict/standards mode doctype to the page, this usually makes various browsers behave more similar to each other.

Cheers , any ideas on how I do that , thanks again

Which part(s) are you having trouble with?

Basically I want to lose the problem I am having with the page breaks which are appearing in IE only, Im very unfamiliar with Dreamweaver thas all and dont know where to start with manual coding of HTML or CSS. But if I can solve the probelm with the distortion I would be most happy. I have done the slicing correctly in Photoshop as far as I am aware as I followed various tutorials and it appears my problem is indeed with my Dreamweaver setup of the site.

The breaks in the image borders happens in other browsers too. The design is fragile and depends on the browser settings being just right. The solution is to change the design to one that is more robust, not to patch the fragile design.

OK thanks, now can anyone expand on this, what can i do to make the design stronger to avoid these problems firstly?
Vypa
Could anyone advise on how I add this strict/standards mode doctype. Thanks
