I'm wondering if it's possible to make robots (Google, etc.) ignore only parts of a certain page, and not the whole page/directory.

AFAIK no.

Unless you want to resort to using an iframe. Still wouldn't be part of the page technically speaking, but I think that's the only way you can come close to what you want to do.

Maybe we should ask why you want to achieve that result. E.g., do you get a lot of unwanted traffic? Or do you want to increase the "keyword density" by hiding the less important content?


It's quite possible to disallow individual pages within a directory.

I know it's possible to disallow certain pages, I only want parts of specific pages.

I don't want visitors being directed to the site because of keywords that don't really have anything to do with it's actual purpose.

I think I'm just going to let this go. I'll just find a different workaround.
