I'm currently using a free database for my phpBB forum and it's usually very slow or sometimes doesn't even load the pages at all... I'm assuming this is entirely the fault of the unreliable free database provider. Anyhow, I want to enable MySQL here since I assume that would be much better. Can I pay with an unverified Paypal account? Also, I don't know how to change the MySQL database that is being used on phpBB. I asked on the phpBB forum, but most of them didn't seem to comprehend my question... However, someone there said all I had to do was change the info in the config.php file. I tried this with a different free database, but it didn't work at all. Does anyone know anything about that?

What do you mean by a "free" database?

(a) Database software (like MySQL) which is free (as in speech) so you can run it and modify it as you wish?

(b) A database server provide which is free (as in beer), and has no discernible business model.

(a) is good; (b) is bad.

Seems the OP copied the question from http://www.110mb.com/forum/mysqlrelated-qu...s-t38627.0.html as a way to post his signature links. I'll ban the user but let the thread stay for the time being.

Sigh... Maybe it's time to kill links in signatures.
