The validator reports lots of errors.

Your navigation links use images without appropriate ALT text.

Your microfonts hit my browser's minimum font size. Your pages force horizontal scrolling online, and run past the right edge of my printer page (unless I enable my browser's Fit to paper width option). There's a big empty space on the left of the home page (under the "Biography" and "Resume" links at the top).

"Contact" should take me to a contact page, not open a mailto link.

On the plus side, I like the overall layout and colors. It just isn't a very flexible design.

Apart from what Darin's mentioned:

It's not obvious that the three headings you have to the right of your picture are links. Domestic transportation, etc...they look like headings, not links.

You use tables for layout which is a no-no in this day and age. Google for "flexible CSS layouts" and join the enlightened masses.

Not too bad! I like the color and the chinese junk ship in the back of the picture. The logo, however, should be quite a bit smaller, and you could use a few more pictures. And like Mr. McGrew already noted, you should be redirected to a "contact" page which should offer different contact methods instead of a mailto link.

From the designer's point of view:
1. make logo smaller
2. contrast between background and navigation is not very good, I'd remove gray shadows
3. a font should be a bit bigger
4. maybe to introduce some new color to make it more interesting
5. add some pictures

Agree for 'Contact' section with Cameron and Darin.

This site has been rebuilt. Let me know your thoughts.

I like the site's layout and appreciate the fact that it is clean and light. Here are a few things I would look into though:
  • Replace the JavaScript rotating image system with a simple animated GIF. People without JavaScript enabled won't even see the additional images currently plus it slows down the loading of your page. Do a search for "animaged gif freeware" and you'll find free software to help you do this.
  • Move your CSS to an external file called style.css and then link to it in your HEAD section rather than embedding it in your pages. This will speed up your site as the external file will be cached and not have to reload each time.
  • Fix your BODY tag. It should just say <body> and not <body onload="MM_p ...>
Take care,

John
