Is it at all possible to change your alias? Seems to be the only thing not available for changing in the My Controls section!

Doesn't the Change Display Name link do what you want?

Darin, it probably would if I could see it! Could you please point me in the right direction?

Probably only available to admins. It's not there for me.

Thanks, jimlongo. I was beginning to think I was getting selective blindness as well as selective hearing (according to my better half)!
Can someone please make the facility available to us lesser mortals? It can't be a security problem as I'm sure I've seen a facility to look at a member's ID history. |

Ah, yes. I see it right below the Change Personal Photo menu item.
I'll look into this. |

Unfortunatly only admins can change an alias. Users can change their titles after they reach 100 posts, but other than that things are pretty much locked in for names.
I think that philosophically this is so that users aren't confused by people constantly changing aliases. I could even forsee a situation where one long term member changes their alias and then another person grabs the abandoned one... If anyone needs their alias changed slightly (like adding a space between Shadowy and Bob) let me know and I'll take care of it. But I won't make a habit of alias changes because it confuses everyone else. John |

Thanks John, I fully understand and its not too important. I chose the name I had been using in the old forum and continued it when I registered here. I tend to use a different one now in other forums and was just going to harmonise it for my own 'tidyness'.

John's post makes perfect sense, but I would like to add that many forums make a compromise, by offering users a change of username a maximum of once say, every 12 months. Maybe that is something the WDG could employ?
