Hi,

I am trying to make a clickable link on an xml file. I have a flashing banner ad, and I'd to be able to click on the ad, which takes you to a web site. What do I need to do to make my ad a clickable link? I'd like to make the jamba and SumHouseArt72 ad's take you to different links.

Here is the xml code:

<slickboard>
<!-- fourth slide -->
<object>
<image url='../images/coupons/jamba.jpg' />
<slide duration='2' preload='2' />
<transition_in type='fade' />
</object>

<object>
<image url='../images/coupons/SumHouseArt72.jpg' />
<slide duration='2' preload='2' />
<transition_in type='fade' />
</object>

</slickboard>

And here is the site link: http://services.housing.berkeley.edu/c1c/s...c/merchants.htm

My idea is for you to be able to click on the Jamba Juice ad and it takes you to a new web site, and the same for the Summer Housing ad.

Thanks,
monorail91

I'm sorry, what does that mean? I made the code on Dreamweaver, uploaded it using FileZilla, and the site is run through webstage.

If all you want to do is create an image that is linked to another web site, then see the FAQ entry:
http://htmlhelp.com/faq/html/images.html#linked-image

But the that's the HTML/XHTML answer. The snippet you posted is XML, and what matters is the system that converts that XML into HTML/XHTML that browsers understand.

I am also using Slickboard, does that answer your question? (I am a SUPER novice to coding, my apologies!)

Using slickboard, will this give me a clickable link on the banner?

<object>
<action>
<image url='../images/coupons/SumHouseArt72.jpg' />
<item type='link' url='http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/conference/summersess_discount.html' target='_self' target_shift='_blank' />
</action>
<slide duration='2' preload='2' />
<transition_in type='fade' />
</object>

Yeah, my preview isn't showing right though...

What do I need to change?

Here is my code right now:

<slickboard>

<object>
<image url='../images/coupons/jamba.jpg' state='hit' />
<action>
<item type='link' url='http://services.housing.berkeley.edu/c1c/images/JambaWebFlashAd.jpg' target='_self' target_shift='_blank' />
</action>
<slide duration='2' preload='2' />
<transition_in type='fade' />
</object>

<object>
<image url='../images/coupons/SumHouseArt72.jpg' state='hit' />
<action>
<item type='link' url='http://www.housing.berkeley.edu/conference/summersess_discount.html' target='_self' target_shift='_blank' />
</action>
<slide duration='2' preload='2' />
<transition_in type='fade' />
</object>

</slickboard>

What about IRL? Does it work there?

I don't know, I'm not familiar with this either, but what you showed above looks like the example at their site to me.
