If you use Flash to embed audio or video on a web page, there are many different Flash players to choose from. But what happens if/when the HTML5 VIDEO element is finally supported --can such an element accomodate different players, or will everybody have to use their browser's UI?

One of the things I find annoying about sites that make heavy use of Flash is the way they break the familiar UI, forcing me to do normal everyday things in strange unique ways.-------------------- Darin McGrew

OTOH a mere Flash media player should be much less confusing than making say a site's navigation, a form or an entire site out of Flash. Most Flash media players I've used have been pretty intuitive to use from the start. Still one might argue that the site visitor should decide this (through his choice of browser*), not the site owner. (* assuming there are suitable browsers to choose from) |
