I am trying to use a png image as a button. It works in Firefox and in IE7 but not in IE6. How can I make the png image work in IE6?

Thanks

Thanks for the info but I am not sure what to do with it!! Do I cut and paste the "quick and dirty" code shown as is in the article? If so, where do I paste it! What if I have more than one png on the page?

Thanks

Does the image have alpha transparency (partial transparency, translucency)? If not, convert it to a JPG and avoid the hassle. Or a GIF if it has fully transparent parts.

What I am trying to do is make buttons with rounded corners that will sit on top of the background where ever I need to place them on the page. The only way I know how to do this is by making png images of buttons where any background around the button area of the png becomes transparent.

thanks

Sounds like full transparency to me. In that case you can convert the images to GIF. Or 256 colors PNG, if you have the software for it. It's only semi-transparency IE has problems with.

Thanks Pandy, converting to a GIF with the full transparency seemed to have worked. I have so much to learn!!!

Thanks again and have a good holiday

Good. I bet the image is much smaller too. smile.gif

Not saying GIF is better than PNG. In fact a 256 colors PNG is usually smaller than a GIF. But you must have had a full color image to start with.
