I want to add a data entry box on a webpage that looks like: Enter Ticker

Then, when someone enters the ticker symbol, I replace the code in a particular spot in existing HTML with the ticker.

I'm a total HTML beginner. Is that doable?

In HTML alone, No. In HTML and Javscript, Yes. Or, HTML and server-side code, Yes. The correct answer depends on how you want to use it.
