Hi everyone.
I recently discovered the Lynx View tool which shows your site in text browser form so that you can see how search engines see it. To my surprise it showed almost no content for a site I recently designed for a friend. Any wonder she says it is not appearing in Google! I thought I had designed the site using reasonable good standards, but obviously I am missing something here. Would you guys please take a look and give me some suggestions as to what is causing my SEO problems? www.somahealthandwellness.com.au Much appreciated! Oh, the Lynx View tool can be found at www.rankquest.com/tools/Lynx-View.php |

http://somahealthandwellness.com.au/ is indexed by Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%...lth%22+wellness but contains an empty page with a Meta refresh:
CODE <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://somahealthandwellness.com/index.shtml" /> If you really want to redirect, do it from the server instead: http://htmlhelp.com/faq/html/publish.html#redirect If you must use a Meta refresh, you might add a CODE <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow"> (together with a real link to the new domain?) to avoid potential search engine confusion. The new(?) URL http://somahealthandwellness.com/index.shtml seems well done (though I'd use H1 elements for the main headings, not H2). Maybe Google hasn't found the new URL at all, or maybe it's considered a duplicate of the the old one (and as such punished), or maybe the zero pagerank is to blame (according to http://www.pagerank.net/pagerank-checker/ ). To increase Pagerank, try to get the new domain listed in decent directories like Dmoz, and ask other (relevant) sites to link to it. |

You may want to clean up your code some, though. http://www.htmlhelp.com/cgi-bin/validate.c...s&input=yes Some of the errors seem to be due to using javascript in an XHTML document, something which requires special considerations: http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Prope...XHTML_Documents --the best sooution is of course to not use XHTML. I'm surprised the validator catched things like that, though. |

I took a while to notice, even for me!
Anyway this also explains why http://www.rankquest.com/tools/Lynx-View.p...wellness.com.au doesn't show anything: there's nothing there to see. |
